The Frank Lloyd Wright designed Gallery (Day 2 cont.)

I forgot to tell you that we went to Maiden Lance off Post street, very near Union Square to have a look at an art gallery that Ross had visited several times and was wanting to have another look at.
We got there after our breakfast and before we went to Macy's and the Post Office, about 9 a.m. or so.

The Xanadu Gallery on Maiden Lane

Unfortunately, the owner of the building and gallery is retiring after operating the gallery for about 20 years. He has sold the Frank Lloyd Write remodeled building and the gallery has everything marked down from 40% to 60%. (This means the ancient bronze Tibetan Ceremonial Dagger that I wanted was about $20,000 off retail price. Lee I saved $20,000! Isn't that fantastic??

Nope, you're right, I didn't get either the Dagger or the great statue of the Indian God Ganesh. In fact, Ross and I didn't take advantage of the great sale at all. The building has been sold and nobody knows what the new owner is going to do with it. Hopefully, the Frank Lloyd Wright Icon will be maintained but maybe not as an art gallery.

Inside the building. The ramp leading up to the second floor is typical Frankie, as well as the weird ceilings and other strange but beautiful design elements of the inside of the space.

There's my Statue of Ganesh that I thought could look very cool in our Unit Lee! What chu think?

Also loved a beautiful Navajo Rug that was gorgeous amd marked down from $4000 to only $1300!!
I thought it would look great in a frame on our living room wall. It was a bit heavy to carry around on our trip, however, so I didn't get it.

Ross saw at least a few things that were very similar to stuff he has already got displayed. He was obviously more tempted by many items than I was but he stayed strong and didn't flash his plastic.

All in all even my uninitiated and uneducated eyes could see the real but and fabulous design and skill that went into many of these both ancient and modern artifacts. The jewelry was only 20% off Little Lee and they had no pearls. Shame!

Beautiful plants and furnishings. I do hope that the new owner of the building maintains the building and maybe he can even keep the gallery concept going as it suits the overwhelmingly artistic nature of the building.

We spent about an hour exploring most things in the building. They had a lot more down in the basement and Ross was very tempted to stay as the sales lady implored him to look but maybe the sight of me tapping my watch put him off. Who knows? Little things.

Anyway, we had a big day walking 500 miles to and then across the Golden Gate Bridge and then after the bridge the further 100 miles down the steep hill into Sausalito. So we couldn't linger in the magnificent bargains of the Xanadu Gallery.

That fills the hole in the previous inaccurate blogpost from San Fran Day 2.
I was tuckered when I wrote that post. It is 7:54 a.m. Friday morning here.
Thus 12:54 a.m. Saturday (Second last day of School Vacation) in Queensland and 10:54 a.m. in Maine.
Time to get back to our home away from home at The Mark Twain Hotel and get through the shower and see if I can get Ross moving towards the Cable Car and Fisherman's Wharf.

Everything is going good and we are eagerly awaiting tomorrow's 4th of July baseball game at the Oakland Colliseum. Ross has also got us lined up for a tour of Chinatown and dinner in North Beach with one of his new Intl. Rotary friends.

Bye for now, time to really start San Fran Day 3.

Lance and Ross.
