Sunday, July 12th in New York City

Blogsters and Blogettes,

It is Sunday at 4:04 p.m., at the moment. I am in my room watching the Red Sox vs. Yankees baseball game. 6-4 Yankees with the 7th inning just about ready to start. Hopefully the Red Sox can make a come from behind victory in the last 3 innings.

We got up slow this morning and we weren't headed out til about 10 a.m. Ross and suggested breakfast (or brunch) at Dean and Deluca Deli at 620 8th Ave. We got there about 10:40 a.m.

It was a simple deli with clean stainless steel and glass making good designer lines all around.
No visible menus made it a little confusing for me. I ended up having a sesame bagel with cream cheese and a large iced americano coffee.

It wasn't crowded or noisy so it was very comfortable.

Lots of space, with clean large tiles and a lot of stainless steel, as I mentioned before.
Quite a high-tech Industrial Design look.

After this we had a look at a Japanese store Muji next door and then walked down towards Herald Square and passed the New York Public Library, where they are promoting reading of all kinds and a family was setting up a photo, which was cute and I jumped in and photoed it as well:

These girls are demonstrating "Reading Everywhere!" Very cute.

New York Public Library 5th Ave. at 42nd Street. working our way downtown.

Eventually we split up as Ross wanted to go back to a book store called Book Culture we had seen at 110th Street the day before, after we had breakfast at Tom's Diner. Then he wanted to head across the Williamsburg Bridge and that Design store he has been eager to go to. We made a date to meet up at the hotel at 6 p.m.

The Empire State Building at 350 5th Ave. between 33rd and 34th Street near Herald Square.
Down near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Macy's is not too far way, and I headed there to have another look through the big sales.

I walked back up to the hotel  from 33rd Street up 7th Ave. from Macy's all the way up to 48th Street via Times Square. Times Square is always very busy and full of performers and dress up weirdos. There are several Statue of Liberties.

Here I am squiting to see what is happenning with my automatic selfie mode on the camera.

This is where the Times Square Bleachers are and also behind them are the Half-Price Tickets Office, with 4 or 5 box office windows where you line up to try and obtain slightly cheaper Broadway Show tickets. We were particularly lucky two nights ago, when we got quick access to a window without need of lining up for lots of minutes. Also, the seats where amazing, right up next to the stage in the very front row, left of the Orchestra Pit. Wow! They were good seats. Fantastic luck.

That's the story up to the minute. Looks bad for the Boston Red Sox, as it is the top of the 9th , with only one at bat left and the Red Sox are 2 runs behind now, with the Yankees enjoying their last at bat. This is the last game before the week-long All Star Game break. I need to take a run out to Duane Reade Pharmacy, then return to meet Ross here to see if we should get tickets for another show.

Bye for now, I'll finish this later...

Well, it's later already.

Ross got delayed returning from his adventures. He actually ran out of time and didn't even get to go across the Williamsburg Bridge to the Design shop, GGrippo Art and Design in Brooklyn.
He got caught up with the Container Store and the MOMA Museum Store.

Enyways, we met up a bit late at the Half-Price Tickets in Times Square, but none of the shows we wanted had tickets so we decided to wait for tomorrow night. We have to get up early tomorrow anyways as we are booked in and have tickets for the One World Trade Tower Observatory, the fourth tallest building in the world. Got to be there just before 10 a.m.
This could be a trial for Ross. We are going to have an early night, however, since we are not going to a show so maybe we will be all right for an early start.

We went to our "local" ; the Patzeria Italian Restaurant, two doors down from our hotel. I had the Pollo con Cognac and Ross had Ravioli Stuffed with Portabello Mushrooms. I thought it was excellent. Very lucky that we have such a nice and good value NYC Italian Restaurant so near our hotel. (I also had another Blue Moon beer with a wedge of orange Barry Scott!)

Wayell;

Now it is almost 9 a.m.

I am getting into bed and reading my ebooks; maybe I can get to sleep early.

Who knows?

Bye for now,

Lance and Ross.
