Off To New York Wed July 8th

Hello Dear Blog Readers,

My alarm rang at 5:20 a.m. this morning and I leaped out of bed and got through the shower and then packed up and checked on everything I belonged to in the room. Ross's alarm went off at 5:30 as well, so we weren't going to miss our shuttle bus appointment at 6:30 a.m.

The shuttle had two other families to pick up but we arrived at the airport in plenty of time and went through the machine check-in and boarding pass printout fairly smoothly. I purchased an extra checked bag for $30 so that took the pressure off. We went to our gate 64 and had some coffee and granola with yogurt. We thought we could see the people in our gate from the table we sat at but when I went down to check everybody waiting had already boarded. It turned out there wasn't any rush, however, because there was an equipment failure on the plane and initially they said it would take 40 minutes to fix, but they actually took just over two hours.

Finally over two hours past scheduled liftoff we finally got off the ground. The flight was smooth although 5 hours and a bit long. We got into New York at about 7:15 p.m. NYC time.

We got a shuttle bus in to the hotel, which was pretty smooth and we got checked in by just after 8.
Then we went to an Italian Restaurant on 7th Ave. called Sbarro which had an Italian buffet that you purchased for $1.44/lb.$11.5 for my tray of food and $6.50 for a bottle of beer.

We stopped into a Pharmacy near the hotel for a few staple items and stuff to go in our fridge.
Now it is 11:12 p.m. apparently, although our body clocks sort of say it is 8:12 p.m.

I think I will make it an early night anyway.

Another baseball game tomorrow, this time at Yankee Stadium.

Bye for now,

Ross and Lance

F-line Electric Trams that run from Fisherman's Wharf down Embarcadero and down the whole length of Market Street to the cross street of Castro. We used these trams a lot.
