Saturday, July 18th in Freeport, Maine

Hello Bloggers and Bloggettes!

We started the day heading out for Freeport, but we travelled on US Route 1 and thus through some small towns. We stopped at George Bush's summer home town, Kennebunkport. for a little look around, but this was bad because we got a little lost. Did buy some small T-Shirts and presents for the boys. Eventually we found I 95, and quickly made up lost time and made it into Freeport by 1:30 p.m.

Here we are in the sacred home of blessed L.L.Bean. (Hushed awe, sounds of very quiet gasping, very slight noises.)

This is me at the famous L.L.Bean Boot. I am wearing my new Orvis Shirt and my new Under Armour shoes. Gotta stop shopping for me and only get presents.

Got Little Lee a lovely "Cool as A Moose In Maine" Nightgown (although Gown may be stretching the meaning a little; lets call it a very long nightshirt.)

Previously I got Lee a Katz Diner nightshirt so she should be set for the last part of the winter when we get back.

The last night in Windsor Locks, finally got Ross booked for flights and accommodation in Canada. The flights weren't too bad but the hotels took hours to organize. He left it too late, I am afraid, and paid the price for it by paying too much for his hotels. Also, we spent many hours trying to get cheap hotels but, in the end, failed.

We got up and got ready and then headed out to Calvin Klein at Kittery Factory Outlet Shop for a lovely iPad carry case in Red and Black.

The dueling Moose in L.L.Bean.

Story of the dueling mooses is that two dead moosses were found locked antlers and it was assumed they fought antlers and they got snagged and couldn't get unsnagged so they starved to death or died trying to get unsnagged.

There are many Moose heads and several Full Mooses in L.L.Bean.
I bought a L.L.Bean duffle bag to hold all my clothing so that I could pack all my presents for Australians in my big white checked luggage. I had the L.L.Bean Duffle Bag, a large one, monogrammed with "LB RUSSELL".

More scenarios of stuffed animules. Lovely museum-like settings.
Bear, Coyotes, Moose, Fox, Raccoons, and Skunks,

Children were heard to exclaim: : " Here's another dead Moose Dad!"

After shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch, The five main stores of L.L.Bean, the Seabag Store, Orvis,
The Outlet Store for L.L.Bean, Cool As A Moose In Maine., Mangey Mouse, Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Brooks Brothers. Patagonia, North Face  Ross was tuckered out. And yet he walked home, about 2 1/2 miles. His steps were 11,800 on his fitness watch, as compared to mine, which was 2341 steps.

We had more Lobster Rolls and Clam Chowder for lunch, followed by me leaving for my 45th Williams High School Reunion. Held at The Waterville Country Club. Lovely dinner, about 30 of my about 80 graduating classmates were there. There was a published list of dead class members at the sign-in desk. About 20. Apparently, I'm a survivor!

The drive from Freeport to Waterville was just over an hour's drive at 70 mph. I got lots of high test coffee in me to maintain alertness.

The main reason I attended this meeting was to see my best pal from High School, and Elementary school; Al Fernald. Al was coming all the way up from his home in Kentucky. It was great to see him and we told each other many stories which was great.

Al Fernald and Lance Russell. Best of pals from year 5 maybe until after University.

Anyway, I spoke to several of my Williams High school, of Oakland, Maine, classmates, and amazingly, quite a few seemed to remember me. Everyone was very pleasant and wanted to hear a lot about Australia. They remembered my brothers Guy and Shawn, as well, and seemed very sad that Shawn had passed away.

I eventually left at 8 p.m., saying a tearful good bye to Al Fernald. Had to escape quickly, I was quite choked up. 70 minutes later I was back at Freeport and shortly after, I collected my monogrammed duffle bag from L.L.Bean.

That was Saturday! Tomorrow we sleep in a little and then make our way to Camden, where
we have stayed a couple of times before. It was the setting for the movie Peyton Place. Very beautiful town. Hopefully everything will go well. Lots of little cheap souvenirs. Presents for the horrible boys.
After Camden, we hit Orrington and visit with Dad and Sandy.

Bye for now,

Thanks to Julia and Isabel for texts and emails. Also, Little Lee wrote a long email for which we are extremely grateful. We both hope for more of the same type in the near future. Nat wrote a very Bruce-like email or 10 words. Hope you can do better Naughty Nat.

Bye for now,

Love you long time,

Lance and Ross!!!!!!
