Alright, alright, alright. After we got placed in our seats on the United Airlines flight UA370
we then tried to get comfortable. At least I had chosen seats a month ago and got us both seats on the isle across from one another. I need to easily get up and walk around during the flight. No sleeping for me for the 14+ hours we were on the plane.
Poor poor pitiful me; seats are so uncomfortable and we have to be in them so long!! Even Ross didn't sleep as well as he usually did. He slept only a few hours. I didn't sleep at all. I watched a couple of movies and read 2 eBooks. I got tired and cranky and my back ached.
Ross says he is weary from flying all night; boy are his arms tired. (GROAN).
Enyways...
We eventually got into San Fran and got through customs although Ross got picked on because he declared a wooden Trivet (which I was confused about as well) and also the Koala cookies apparently the young man in customs ; didn't know what a trivet is (look it up!) and also wanted to know whether the Koala cookies included Koala meat and was it raw? What tha?? I thought they would arrest him for the imported tubes of Vegemite. (and the Vegemite Chocolate!) He had a big bunch and they would probably have been perfect for disguising Tar Heroin. (which Ross did not; I hasten to say import. He eventually got through and we got a shuttle mini bus door to door right to the Mark Twain Hotel. Fortunately our room was ready and we were able to go up and Ross got through the shower and get ready to attend the San Francisco China Town Int. Rotary Club weekly meeting.
He (and his vegemite) was a big hit, Ross is after all a very experienced and highly skilled public speaker, The Chinatown President has invited Ross and I to a personal tour of Chinatown and dinner out at a fancy restaurant in North Beach next Tuesday. Paul Chin is his name, he is the Retired Fire Warden of San Francisco, very important.
I was absolutely buggered but my mind was racing, but after a Valium I managed 90 minutes sleep whilst Ross was away at the Rotary Meeting. When he got back I had a shower and we went out for our first look at San Fran. We bought a lot of stuff cause there were big sales. 50% off at the Japanese
clothing store "Superdry" and also a huge sale at Eddie Bauer store. We tracked down Phone Sim Cards from AT&T and Ross and I have new USA phone numbers. Mine is +1 415 917 6665 and Ross is at: +1 415 917 6699. We were very happy at AT&T. Maxine was very patient with us and also got both of our iPads up and running with a USA data sim.
SF Cable Cars up Powell Street.
Anyway we had a good time and we are back in the room now, Ross is in charge of the TV and has made us watch "Duck Dynasty" for 30 minutes. Now, however, we are into Conan O'Brian. The hotel seems fine and it is in a good location, near central Downtown San Francisco and also Union Square.
Mark Twain quotes are everywhere:
Here is the Mark Twain essay quote over Ross's bed.
Bye for now now. The real first day in San Francisco starts tomorrow.
Bye for now!
Love
Lance
